Flood Susceptibility Assessment (FSA) Using GIS-Based Frequency Ratio (FR) Model in Kota Belud, Sabah, Malaysia

چکیده
The flood is one of the most devastating natural disasters to strike Sabah, Malaysia, especially in Kota Belud region. Flood Susceptibility Analysis (FSA) was described using bivariate statistical analysis (the Frequency Ratio model) based on a Geographical Information System (GIS). Field surveys and formal reports from local authorities study area created inventory map. training dataset for consisted 100 locations inundated 2017, while validation 54 2016 report. Eight (8) parameters (elevation, slope curvature, angle, topography wetness index, drainage density, proximity, land use, soil type) were extracted database then converted into raster format with cell size 5m x 5m. Finally, break classification method, FSA generated classified five classes: very low, moderate, high, high susceptibility. under curve (AUC) validated susceptibility model's accuracy. success rate AUC calculated be 0.89, prediction 0.82. could used develop mitigation strategies use planning.

متن کاملThalassemia major is a major risk factor for pediatric melioidosis in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
BACKGROUND Melioidosis is an important cause of community-acquired infection in Southeast Asia and northern Australia. Studies from endemic countries have demonstrated differences in the epidemiology and clinical features among children diagnosed with melioidosis. This suggests that local data are needed to determine the risk factors and outcome in specific areas. METHODS This was a retrospec...

Flood plains and the area near to the rivers channels, because of their special circumstances such as fertility and water resources are appropriate situations for the social and agricultural activities, but due to morphological characteristics usually, these area are affected by different flood hazards. However, in these areas, determination of flood zone and its height and also detecting prope...

Abstract: This paper presents the methodology and procedure for flood risk assessment using GIS and flood inundation model (FIM) based on the “micro-zonation concept” in which an entire floodplain considered is divided into numerous unit areas (meshes or grids). In this study, Shinkawa-river floodplain around Nagoya City of Aichi Prefecture in Japan an urbanized lowland area, which was greatly ...
متن کاملFlash Flood Hazard Susceptibility Mapping Using Frequency Ratio and Statistical Index Methods in Coalmine Subsidence Areas
This study focused on producing flash flood hazard susceptibility maps (FFHSM) using frequency ratio (FR) and statistical index (SI) models in the Xiqu Gully (XQG) of Beijing, China. First, a total of 85 flash flood hazard locations (n = 85) were surveyed in the field and plotted using geographic information system (GIS) software. Based on the flash flood hazard locations, a flood hazard invent...
